Last year I traveled with Wishing Well Africa to Rwanda. I was browsing through the images again and came across these. We arrived to a school in eastern Rwanda in the Kayonza district. We were told by the head master that the children had never painted art before. We had lots of supplies with us for the kids and asked them to paint what CLEAN water means to them. I was in shock watching these kids that had NEVER painted anything before, make masterpieces. It was beautiful.
12.12.09 – watch and see how you can make a difference with your camera. I get emails every week from photographers asking advice on a way they can help change the world with photography. You don’t have to fly all the way to Africa to help someone in need. Watch this video and think about it. It just about brought tears to my eyes. You can find a group in your city and join them on December 12th. http://www.help-portrait.com
Helen from Kulu Ocogo Village drank water from a dirty pond shared with her cows. She now has a @charitywater well
and proudly serves on the Water User Committee!
Every now and then I get the opportunity to shoot a wedding. I was thrilled when Courtney asked me to photograph her October wedding to Laren Poole in Austin. I had a blast getting to know them both better. Here are a few images from the night. Big thanks to Kelsey Foster for assisting as my second shooter.
LOCATION CHANGE: please RSVP and view new address .
I’ve gotten many emails in the past year of photographers wanting to grab a cup of coffee and talk about Travel Photography. It is rare that this can actually happen with my schedule. I was approached by Steven Bush recently to speak for an evening and share about what I do. I thought this would be a great way to connect with those who travel and want to know more about photographing overseas. I will be speaking about how photography began for me – to what I do now. I will also speak about my approach to being sensitive to people in other countries, capturing the beauty of each person. If you’re lucky, I might actually bring some of my first photographs ( hopefully they don’t hurt your eyes)
I am encouraging each person attending to bring some of their own photographs from around the world to be critiqued. I hope to see you there !
